Things I’ve Learned from Sophia

1. Talking all day has its advantages – even if the phrases you hear most is, “Sophia, are you still talking?”

2. Singing while you play is awesome. Especially when the song is, “{enter name here} is a nerd.”

3. Speaking with a very high voice is sometimes cute.

4. Loyalty to those you love is priceless.

5. Ice cream is too cold to eat.

6. Flushing the toilet too many times at once can really get you in trouble.

That’s it for now!

Hater Juice

That’s an interesting phrase and one that has made me laugh many times in my life. But today, it’s not so funny. Apparently, one of Deana’s siblings feels that she has drunk “the hater juice” because of the following statement:

“I love these grown “kids” so much!!!! I am proud of each one for different reasons, but today I am as proud as a peacock. Why? Well, {name removed} and {name removed 2} qualified all on their own for their very first apartment! It is a VERY nice complex here in TX, and they are beyond excited to be moving out on their own. {name removed 3} will be moving in with them as well, but he won’t carry equal weight as far as the bills. He is only 18 and still working part time so the funds aren’t as plentiful for him.”

Apparently, the comments regarding name removed 3 is very offensive because he is “carrying the weight equally”. Well, he may be, or he may not be – I have no idea if he is paying 1/3 of the rent or 1/3 of the utilities bills or 1/3 or the food – last I heard name removed 1 & 2 were not relying on anything from #3, only what he could afford. But that is really not anything I want to discuss in detail. What I WANT to say is, the above post was made in love and filled with excitement and pride for each and every person equally, and posted completely in love. But apparently, name withheld #3 was so offended by the post as “hater juice”, that he had to run to Deana……oh no wait, he ran to his MOTHER to complain! Deana doesn’t even know that he is BOTHERED by the post, so how is it now supposedly HATER JUICE?????

And then I ask you, what is more hater juice, the post above that was not INTENDED to offend, but could have been remedied IF the person was told that it hurt someone, or someone telling his sister to F off and you can’t have the mattress so sleep on the floor? To me, that is OVERT and HATER JUICE!

And just a side note – a lot of people have been treating Deana like crap, HATER JUICE. Treating her like she has the plague, not keeping your word and taking things you said she could have until Friday, not even acting like she’s a part of the family (my opinion, not hers – although she is hurt.) And THAT is hater juice in it’s finest.

So……I, for one, and glad this stupid butt drama will HOPEFULLY end soon. Family doesn’t do this crap.

I made a funny!

Yesterday I had dinner with Deana and the kids. As each of us would finish, I would ask for their plates because I had told Deana I would straighten up the kitchen (because I am a very very kind person! Maybe a little modest, too.). As he was finishing his dinner, Zack begins the following conversation:

Zack: Auntie Gina, why do you have three plates?

Gina: Because I’m fat.

I have never heard him laugh so hard and for so long in the whole time I’ve known him! He seriously cracked up.

So, of course, he had to give me his plate too and the conversation continued…….

Annoying things and other Ramblings

Hello!

If any of my 2.78 readers know me if person, you’d probably know that inconsiderate people are the most irritating and annoying thing on my list of things that bug me. I don’t know, I am sure I’ve had my moments of being inconsiderate, so maybe I should show a little more grace. But I YEARN to think of others and not be selfish, etc. I do have to admit that my opinion of someone grows much worse when a “man” treats a woman badly.

Here is a hypothetical situation (or is it? You’ll never know!):

~ Woman, an older sibling, gives her youngest brother his first laptop – used, but he is a teenager.

~ Woman buys her brother his first car as a HS graduation present, no strings attached.

~ Woman pays for her brother’s Christmas gifts for several years because her mother cannot afford it. The gifts were not socks, either.

Now flash forward – and not BECAUSE of the above, but just background of the scenario relationship up to this point.

~ Younger brother (now an adult at – let’s say, 20 – so supposedly a man), is being given his sister’s mattress when he moves out. Except, his sister will not be moving until three days after he leaves. This “man” takes the mattress, leaving his sister (who is, let’s say, 40) to sleep on the ground. When she calls and says it’s physically impossible for her to sleep this way, he basically says, “F you, the mattress is mine”.

~ But for another sibling – a SISTER I might add – the older sister would be left sleeping on the floor.

Here are my opinions (for what they’re worth):

~ It would never be decent for a MAN to leave a woman sleeping on the floor under any circumstances, except maybe if the man was physically unable to sleep on the floor. However, this was not the case in the scenario and, in fact, this “man” could have shared a bed for the three nights involved with another sibling – as he has done for the past six months.

~ Is should be embarrassing to the “man” that a woman had to be the gentleman in this scenario, offering up her bed in the mean time.

~ It is not fair to accuse the woman in this scenario of being selfish.

~ “My bed” is an interesting thought in this scenario, since apart from the older sister, the “man” would not have anything to sleep on in three days anyway, let alone for months and months until he can get his own bed.

~ As for me, if I REALLY knew the “man” in this scenario, I would be done and glad to not have to have this person in my life day-to-day in the future. Selfish, inconsiderate people suck, ESPECIALLY when they are family. It seems he will end up alone and without those who had loved him surrounding him. Seems to be projecting a very lonely life unless he begins to see life beyond his own nose.

~ I will do my “darndest” to make sure my boys are chivalrous and considerate of those around them – kind to women, respectful of elders, think of others before themselves, etc. I don’t ever want them to be in a scenario such as this and fail so miserably.

NOW, on to other topics:

I did NOT go to Bible Study last night, missing ANOTHER week. IF Martin is reading this, I am sorry. Not to say my beauty is more important, but I DID have a hair appointment. It was originally scheduled for Tuesday night, but needed to be changed at the last minute. So, sorry.

Okay, I have a doctor appointment this morning so gotta go! Thanks for reading my ramblings!

Mission Presbyterian……PCA…..and more……

You may or may not have noticed the new link I have to the right…..for Mission Presbyterian Church. This is a plant church that was started by my co-worker Martin and his wife Kathleen along with a group of people committed to this plant. Currently, Mission holds a Wednesday night bible study and a Sunday evening worship/bible study. For more information, check out the link! And I highly recommend you visit either meetings (or both!) – it is a great time with great people……AND you will see my face there too! LOL

On the school front, I received my official acceptance from Hope International – woohoo! I go to Orientation on the 15th, get registered, and buy my books. I had forgotten about the book part, wow they are expensive! LOL But I think I am ready to get back to homework and all that jazz. I am really looking forward to graduate work, which will not have to include GE classes with kids right out of high school, etc. (Sorry Heather, I love you, but many are not as cool as you!) And I am looking forward to learning more topics about management and such.

That’s about it for me right now…..a little sleepy and it’s hard to query the brain at this present moment.

Please pray…..

……for my best friend, Deana as well as her siblings: Manual, Jerry, Julia, Victoria, Stephanie, Andrew, and Michael as today their dad passed away.

Jerry (their dad) was young – in his mid 60’s – although had been sick for a long time. No one expected him to leave so quickly and everyone is having a hard time right now. Complicating matters is that several live in Texas and need to head back to California for the funeral.

Thanks for your support!

I have been ACCEPTED!!!!!

Remember when, a couple of weeks ago, you heard about me graduating with my Bachelor’s Degree from Biola? Well I heard today that I have been accepted at Hope International University to obtain my MBA! I know, some of you are thinking I am crazy, starting back so soon. Part of me wants to point out that I actually finished school in October, so I HAVE had a little break! And then there’s also the fact that, in order to graduate in December, I had to carry 12-14 units for the last year……THAT will not be the case at Hope, where I can take one class at a time and do not have to worry about general education classes! I am in no rush…..I want to learn and grow in my management skills and learning how to deal with people.

And maybe the MBA is not as prestigious as it used to be…..I am cool with it. I am getting too old to worry about that. I am doing this for ME, and if it helps out my career, then that’s gravy. I am really looking forward to starting!

My orientation is on the 15th and I think school starts on the 21st. Many of the classes are online and the “in person” classes are once a week, so that should be fabulous. I actually MISS school a little bit, so I am a bit of a freak perhaps!

Hope is a Christian University, although you don’t have to be a Christian to attend. They really do have a large portion of international students and I look forward to expanding my knowledge a bit more of the world around me.

So, that’s my latest!
