Very interesting. How would we feel if the person of “faith” was a radical muslim who believed all tenets of the Koran? I think most people would have a problem with that kind of faith. Faith is not what’s important. It’s what you put your faith in that should really matter!
I have to agree with Liz on this one, although, I may be a little more liberal than many of your readers! I think what matters is character and integrity even more so than a politician being a Christian who believes just as we do.
I mean just think about all the Christian leaders who have caused all kinds of corruption both in the political arena and in the church as well.
Being a Christian does not magically make someone a good politician just like being the person who has worked a job for the longest time does not magically make them the best choice for a management position.
So back to agreeing with Liz – the object of our faith is what makes all of the difference, but as James says, “Faith without works is dead.”
So, in a nutshell, if we do desire a Bible Believing Christian to run for office, we should expand that desire to include the word PRACTICING.
I figured you were looking for debate with this post so there you go!
If I had a choice between John Macarthur for President OR Steven Covey, I hate to say it but I’d vote for the more open minded of the two!!!!
